This page is ONLY for students who have completed their breadth portfolio.
If you have not completed your breadth portfolio, or you don't know what a breadth portfolio is, then you are probably on the wrong page. For the summer 2016, Nicole and T should do this summer homework. Anyone else visiting this page should go back to the home page and choose Drawing or 2-D for your summer homework.
Summer Homework: This summer you will develop an idea for your concentration and complete two concentrations artworks.
Due the first week of class: Two artworks and a statement about your concentration topic.

What is a "Concentration?"
A concentration is "a body of related works (of art) that demonstrate sustained and thoughtful investigation of a specific visual idea." The best way to understand this is to look at several concentrations. Check these two sites and be sure to read the student "concentration commentary":

Once you have decided on a concentration, it's time to get to work.
Do two concentration pieces this summer.
Do two concentration pieces this summer.
- Spend about five or six hours on each one.
- They do not have to be perfect, because the point of a concentration is to show growth.
- All of your work must be original. Do not copy someone else's photograph or drawing.
- Take your own reference pictures. Both student above took the photographs used.
- If you do use a reference photo from someone else, you must put it into your own composition. For example, Olivia (above) used someone else's photograph of cranes, but she created the design that combined the cranes, triangles and the girl.
