100 points due the first day of class.
Steps

What is a visual journal and why make one?
A visual journal is a way to record your thoughts and experiences using words, drawings, photographs and objects. Check out samples of visual journals by these student artists: Your art will be more meaningful if it connects to you and your experiences. Your visual journal is a powerful way to make these connections (and remember them).
This example is collage and paint. It explores how media portrays women. |
Project Two : One finished work of art based on one of your journal entries.
100 points, due the first day of class.
100 points, due the first day of class.
Frequently asked question:
"What if I end up spending five hours on a journal entry in my sketch book, can I use this as one of my finished artworks?" It's fine to have finished artworks in your sketchbook, it happens often. If you do this, just do one more short journal entry later on, so that you end up with five entries in addition to your finished piece. |
Here are examples of artworks by AP students from previous years. These are all detail shots.
Notice that each explores events, emotions or ideas that are important to the student artist. Each looks like it tells a story.
